Families love Big Bear Hostel.
Children are not allowed in our dormitory. But our large private rooms are perfect for families up to 5 people total.
Many families stay with us and we have a small playground on site for the kids to play in the sand. There are lake side public parks nearby. You can walk to restaurants without dealing with kids in cars. :)

What is provided?
Beds are made with pillows, sheets and blankets. A towel and soap are provided. Access to a kitchen and living room makes the hostel feel like a home away from home.
Safety?
It's very safe here. All our buildings have keypad codes to enter the buildings and video recording of everyone coming and going. Each bedroom has it's own keypad code to enter. Managers live next door with a view of the property to keep an eye on everything.

Big Bear Lake area has Native American Indian History, Mining History, Logging History, Ranching, Skiing, and more.
Big Bear history goes back to the early pioneer days in California. Native America Serranno indians lived here before the pioneers discovered what is now called Big Bear Valley. You can find great books about the history of Big Bear in the village bookstores, the Discovery Center, and the Big Bear Museum. The museum is a great way to spend an afternoon learning about 150 years of history spanning the Gold Rush in the 1860's to the creation of the ski resort community Big Bear has become today!
