The lake is across the street from Big Bear Hostel and BigBearGroups.com retreat rentals.
Big Bear Lake is best know for fishing and boating and watersports like paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, waterskiing, jet skis, and boat tours. It is possible to swim in Big Bear Lake if conditions are good and safety considerations are followed.
Depending on lake water levels, kids may be able to splash and play on the shoreline at the Rotary Park behind the post office on Pine Knot drive.
Many people play on the shoreline by the East boat ramp. The water is often shallow here depending on lake level.
There is parking near the dam along the highway where water is deeper and this is probably the best area for advanced swimmers to find a free spot with clear water to swim. There are no lifeguards here. But bathrooms or portable bathrooms should be available.
Kayak and paddle board rentals are next door to us and across the street.
